Back From The Brink

So I guess it took arriving at the Phoenix airport 4 hours early to get me to do an update on this thing. Since the move-in to the NYC apt. I spent 10 days there getting settled and then headed off to do another tour. This time I'm with Albert for a couple weeks then going to Ween for a couple weeks. The Albert stuff so far has been fun. The shows have almost all been great and I'm really having fun mixing the band. We did a TV appearance on the Craig Ferguson Show (I know, nobody knows who he is). The fun part is that it's shot at CBS "Television City" which is also where The Price Is Right is shot. We got to run around and see all the games and take pictures and stuff. After the show was done we went into the empty studio and got to take pictures at contestants row and the showcase showdown. Good times I tell you. The last time I was here I was with all Brits who have no idea how goddamned special this shit is. I mean, it's Plinko for christ's sake. On our way out I missed one of my all-time greatest photo-ops ever as I simultaneously met Bob Sagat and Henry Winkler. Yes. I shook hands with the Fonz. It was sweet.

Now we're getting ready to fly to Mexico City which should be fun enough. We're down one essential member as Brian Dunn lost his mother yesterday and had to fly back to Glasgow. Not such good times. I feel terrible for him and hope to have him back soon, stinking up the back lounge with 1,000 cigarettes and sleeping in dressing rooms.

And just so Richard feels a pang of longing to be with us, I ate my first cheese & chip sandwich last night. On a shitty bagel. Hope you're enjoying your Pho Richie.
This is us at 6am in Phoenix...

Of course, this was where we were only a few days ago. Serenity now...

Hello Ween

Moving sucks. I'm moved out of the SF apartment but still have to move into the NYC place. Writing about moving would be masochistic so I'm going to skip it. I'm in Oxford, Mississippi now in the middle of a short run with Ween. It's my first time working for them and so far it's been pretty sweet. It's a whole different scene than the one I've been working in for the last few years but they're one of my favorite bands so the shows have been particularly fun. They typically play for 3hrs with no intermission. The first show we played was in Asheville, NC. It's a typical hippie college town in the mountains of western NC. Since there was no security at the stage kids were jumping up and dancing across the stage the whole show. Now, I'm all for the kids digging the rock, but it's pretty excruciating to watch a procession of kids jump up on stage, do some lame dance and make the devil horns at the crowd and then timidly lay onto the crowd in hopes of stage diving without getting hurt. The whole thing devolved during the encore when the band played LMLYP. This is a song where the band lets girls (girls only) on stage to dance. As the band played more and more people invaded the stage. At first they stayed behind the line of monitor speakers but soon they just took over the whole stage until they surrounded the band. Welcome to Ween tour.
