Oxegen/T In The Park
Every year for the past 3, I've spent the 2nd weekend in July doing Oxegen & T In The Park festivals. They're twin fests in Ireland (Oxegen) and Scotland (T) meaning they have the same line up flip-flop on Sat. & Sun. Oxegen sucks. T in the Park is usually fun. This year the same was true. We arrived at Oxegen in the wind & rain to find they hadn't planned for rain when they built the stage. Genius.

Inviting, no?

Water+Electricity=Awesome!

The wind was so bad that it blew a lighting tower over onto our guitar tech Brian's head. He missed the gig and spent the night in the hospital. It made for a stressful gig trying to set the band up in 30mins in front of 50,000 people with a guy missing. He's ok though and that's what counts.
T in the Park was a much better day. It didn't rain and was even blazing sunny for awhile. This is a rarity at UK fests. Plus you didn't have to take a van to get to catering. I saw the Futureheads boys though missed their set again. We played right before The Who both days followed by James Brown. I was underwhelmed by both. I did enjoy the Magic Numbers and Arctic Monkeys though.
The Monkeys play to the sun...

As do the Strokes...

Ragan's idea of doing lights during the day...

Amsterdam next...me likey.
